MPAcc Program Overview

Established in 2004, the MPAcc program of School of Business, Sun Yat-sen University is one of the first batch of pilot institutions for master degree in Accounting and one of the first batch of A-level member units for master degree in Accounting with certification of education quality. The MPAcc program of Business School utilizes the platform of MBA education, combines the professional advantage of MF, MAud and other programs, based on the strong faculty of Accounting, makes full use of various education resources at home and abroad, committed to cultivating the senior talents with comprehensive literacy development, and that pays equal attention to theory and practice, adapts to international competition environment and different culture background, engages in high-level accounting, auditing, financial and investment work in all kinds of organizations. The school cooperates with Hong Kong, Macao, Taiwan and foreign universities, employs professors from top business schools, and establishes exchanges and contacts with North America and Europe to realize the internationalization of MPAcc education. The school established a local case development team of MPAcc, and invited high-level experts from the practical field to give lectures, enriching the content of the second class and strengthening the local response of MPAcc education.

Program Highlights

1) Internationalization
The program takes the world first-class colleges and universities as the benchmark, emphasizes the internationalization of education ideas and methods, and actively carries out exchange programs. 100% of the professional teachers have the experience of overseas study, training, meeting and cooperative research.

2) Case Teaching Method
The course encourages the use of Harvard University’s PCL case teaching method, which is student-centered, guides students to participate in teaching and improves students’ learning enthusiasm.

3) Dual-Tutors System
The program implements Dual-Tutors System, and external tutors are involved in the whole process of student training.

4) Combination of Theory and Practice
The program not only pays attention to educate students on the theories and specialized knowledge of accounting, finance and taxation, law, management and other aspects, but also the cultivation of practice-oriented practical ability and professional ethics.

5) Establish training base and carry out professional internship
The school organizes full-time students to have a four-month professional internship and strongly support students to participate in various business case competitions. vard University’s PCL case teaching method, which is student-centered, guides students to participate in teaching and improves students’ learning enthusiasm.

6) Experts in practical field participate in teaching
All MPAcc teachers are required to have practical experience, with the participation of experts in practical field.

7) Summer camp
The main activities of the summer camp include campus visit, accounting practice lecture, academic lecture, research design review, teacher-student exchange, and arrangement of MPAcc recommendation of exam-free graduate students (internal and external).

8) The second class activity which enhances student’s communication and leadership.

9) Part of the professional qualification examination of HKICPA and ACCA is exempted.
